Anechoic chamber upgrades
Many chambers built in the 80-ies and 90-ies are equipped with polyurethane absorber materials. Due to the limited product life time of those foam absorbers your anechoic chamber might need an upgrade to become compliant (again) to the latest test standards like CISPR16-1-4. A refit or upgrade of the anechoic chamber focuses on the replacement of the RF microwave absorbers but can be expanded to an upgrade of RF shielded doors, RF shielded feedthroughs and positioning equipment such as turn tables or antenna masts.
Maintenance management is an important factor in quality assurance and is important for a company’s cost control. Beyond just preventing break downs, it is necessary to keep an EMC facility operating within all specifications. The cost of idle time is higher as equipment becomes more high-tech and expensive. An EMC test facility or RF shielded room must be kept in reliable condition without costly work stoppage and down time due to repairs, if the company is to remain productive and competitive.
Although Comtest products are considered amongst the highest quality in the EMC industry similar to other equipment they do need maintenance. The main objective is to prevent RF shielding deterioration or malfunction of the shielded door operating system. Repair or maintenance of the moving parts like the locking or opening mechanisms is not recommended to be executed by unauthorized personnel. Comtest Engineering can do preventive maintenance on
RF shielded doors, stirrer systems and positioning equipment such as turn tables and antenna masts. As an additional service our experienced maintenance engineers can re-test the shielding effectiveness, NSA, FU and sVSWR of the EMC facility to ensure that your controlled electromagnetic environment remains intact.
Site validation testing
Comtest Engineering can offer site validation testing for shielding effectiveness (SE) performance of RF shielded rooms and shielded doors. In addition we perform the various site validation tests of anechoic chambers such as NSA, Field Uniformity (FU) and sVSWR testing.
